Amethyst is a purple variety of quartz; these crystals grow in cavities of volcanic rock. The purple color is caused by traces of iron in the crystal lattice and natural radiation during formation. Large amethyst geodes are commonly found in Brazil, including this specimen. The geode weighs approximately 100kg and is 98cm tall. The geode comes with a steel stand.
